Anything less just wont cut it.

So today i felt that a little experiment to help put into perspective just how quickly your mower blades actual deteriorate just from cutting a thick patch of lawn no sticks, no stones or debris of and kind. And what type of maintenance not only the blades need but your petrol mower needs to maintain the RPM to turn your blades so they slice cleanly through, rather then rip/ tear your grass.

On the left is grass cut with a dull mower blade, see how the grass blade has torn and gone yellow within days of being cut, where as with the picture on the right shows what sharp mower blades do to grass just days after being cut, now even with sharp mower blades not every blade will be cut exactly the same as not all grass grows straight-up, but at least with a sharp set of blades you can be certain to keep your grass green and healthy.

Now here on the right this blade is razor sharp with no chips out of the cutting edge so the blade wont rip the grass, rather it will slice straight through, where as on the left shows the same blade after just 20 minutes of mowing the lawn and as you can see the blade now has small chips along the cutting edge, so this puts into perspective just how much wear and tear just a small amount of mowing can have on the blades and why you should always monitor there condition, And while some people may think this is a small part of mowing that can be overlooked, let me ask you one question, "would you drive a car with flat tyres?.
