Nandina Domestica a native to eastern Asia from the Himalayas to japan. despite being known by names like heavenly bamboo and sacred bamboo, Nandina domestica is not actually a bamboo in fact it is classed as an evergreen shrub that grows to around 2 meters and 1.5 meters wide but the fact that the branches themselves all grow directly out of the ground giving it the look of bamboo.

The younger leaves of the Nandina domestica in spring will turn a bright pink to red and then turn green, as for the older leaves they will turn back to red or deep purple before falling off the tree. the flowers of the Nandina are white and grow in clusters above the shrub giving a great contrast to the red leaves the flowers will bill in early summer. Nandina domestica also produces fruit but not the kind for consumption, these berries will be on the plant during the colder seasons of autumn and winter, in general terms all unidentified plants should be considered poisonous and any fruit they produce should not be eaten or touched as some plants only need to touch your skin for it to take effect. With Nandina Domestica you need not worry as this plant will generally need very little pruning and maintenance other then keeping it watered and in well drained soil. Thanks for reading and have fun in garden.
