Pelargoniums are apart of the geraniaceae family which includes Geraniums there are over 250 species in this family of plants. these plants are making a comeback because of water restrictions as these plants are very drought tolerant and also heat tolerant but when it comes to cold temperatures the pelargoniums can only hold up to very minor frost so when planted in cold climates you need to be mindful of this.

When it comes to identifying Pelargoniums the flowers are your best bet as the flowers have 5 petals and of those 5 petals the 2 on top are different from the other three.

Pelargoniums come in many variety's which will make finding one for your garden very easy and give your garden a colourful splash year round if planted in a good spot that gets sufficient sun and water in easy draining slightly acidic soil. Thanks for reading and have fun in the garden.
