Formally known as the Chlorophytum comosum but more commonly known by names such as the spider plant, air plane plant, St. Bernard lily, spider ivy and the ribbon plant. Young chlorophytum comosum wont flower until the plant has matured because the plant needs enough energy to produce little tiny versions of themselves as this is how the plant self propagates.

Chlorophytum comosum grows to around 80cm in height making it great for almost any garden bed or pot or in decorative pots like this one in the picture above. the plant is a very good starting point for any person wanting to get into gardening as they can generally take a lot of neglect if planted in a nice half sun spot with good draining soil and like to actually dry out a little before each watering. Over watering can led to the plants demise because of the threat of root rot but drenching the roots of the plants can help if you notice the plants leaves browning as this happen form chlorine and fluoride in town water that can over time turn the foliage brown this only happens very rarely and as always its best to use rainwater on your garden plants. thanks for reading and have fun in the garden.
