The jade plant belongs to the genus of plants called Crassula and there are over 1400 species in this genus. The jade plants species name is Crassula ovata and does bloom small pink or white flowers.

Some people do find that Jade plants do struggle to flower and others would say that it flowers easily, flowers on a jade plant does not mean that it is healthier then one that has not bloomed. when a jade plant does bloom it just means that it was in the right conditions as it must have got the right amount of sunshine, nutrients and water to put it in to a relaxed mode before blooming in around winter.

Jade plants are typically used as an indoor plant because of its ease of maintenance and care so long as your provide sunshine and some water once a week. Jade plants do survive outdoors and although they do have hurdles to overcome like frost and bugs and the threat of over watering which can contribute to part of the plant rotting.

Jade plants are also popular for there bonsai capabilities as they are know as the beginner bonsai, the plants are evergreen which means they will not change colour as the season change unlike a deciduous trees which change colour and loose there leaves in autumn, the only time the jade plant may change colour is if it gets sunburn or to much sun over a certain period but this is usually temporary until the plant recovers. thanks for reading and have out in the garden.
